The meaning of our name
Amal

hope

Amal means hope, and that word is the cornerstone of this practice. In its truest sense it is more than optimism; it is an active aspiration for a better future, and the quiet, durable belief that change is possible. That belief sits at the centre of every session.

You don't have to carry it alone

You've tried to push through it. Real change starts when we look a little deeper.

Maybe it's the unique hurdles ADHD adds to an ordinary day, nights lost to insomnia, anxious thoughts that won't switch off, or a low mood that lingers. Therapy here is integrative, collaborative, and built around how you want things to work.

We start with your story, then draw on evidence-based methods, CBT, CBT-I for sleep, DBT and more, alongside practical worksheets and resources designed to help you restructure unhelpful patterns and navigate the obstacles in your way.

About

Meet Muhammad Faisal Sohail

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

I believe therapy works best as a partnership. Before reaching for any one method, I take the time to understand your specific story: what you're carrying, what you've already tried, and what a better day would actually look like for you.

From there, my approach is integrative and collaborative. I draw on several evidence-based modalities to build a toolkit of practical skills you can use between sessions, not just talk about during them. The goal isn't endless therapy; it's helping you feel more like yourself, sooner.

Much of my work centres on the concerns that quietly wear people down: the daily friction of ADHD, the long nights of insomnia, anxiety, low mood, and the weight of difficult life transitions. I work with teens, adults, and seniors, individually and as couples, in a judgment-free space. I'm based in Oakville and see clients online across Ontario, and I'm glad to support immigrants and newcomers finding their footing in a new country, in English, Urdu, Punjabi, or Hindi.

You bring your lived experience; I bring evidence-based tools, worksheets, and resources to help you restructure unhelpful patterns and move forward on your own terms.

Areas I work with

Whatever brings you here, you'll be met with warmth and without judgment. These are the concerns I support most often, each approached at your pace, in a space that feels safe, online across Ontario.

A supportive therapy session: two people seated in conversation in a calm space

ADHD

Focus, follow-through, time-blindness, and the self-criticism that so often rides alongside, with strategies that fit how your brain works.

Insomnia & Sleep

Structured CBT-I to quiet the night-time mind, rebuild sleep drive, and restore a healthy relationship with rest.

Anxiety

Worry, panic, overthinking, and the physical toll of a nervous system stuck in overdrive.

Depression

Low mood, exhaustion, loss of interest, and the heaviness that makes everything harder.

Trauma

Processing painful experiences and the way they linger in the body and mind.

Pornography & Addiction

Compassionate, shame-free support for compulsive patterns, pornography, substances, and behavioural cycles, and a path out of them.

Grief & Loss

Space to mourn, remember, and slowly carry what's been lost in a way you can live with.

Couples & Relationships

Communication, connection, conflict, and rebuilding trust between partners.

Men's Issues

Identity, pressure, anger, and the stuff that's often hard to say out loud.

Immigrants & Newcomers

Identity, belonging, culture shock, and the weight of starting over, with sessions in English, Urdu, Punjabi, or Hindi.

Life Transitions

Career shifts, new milestones, self-esteem, and finding footing when everything changes.

My approach

Evidence-based, tailored to you

I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Depending on what you're working through, I draw on a few proven approaches, like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), CBT for insomnia (CBT-I), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused therapy, and together we use whatever fits you best.

Our sessions have a clear direction, but they never feel rigid. Between meetings, I'll share simple tools and worksheets you can actually use, so the progress you make carries into your everyday life, not just the hour we spend together.

Who I work with

A practice built around your life

Sessions are fully virtual and secure, available to clients across Ontario, including evenings and weekend afternoons, so therapy fits around work and family.

I also offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered approaches where they fit.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know before we begin

Yes. I directly bill Green Shield and Sun Life, so there's nothing for you to claim afterward. If you're with another provider, I'll give you a detailed receipt you can submit for reimbursement. Most extended health plans cover psychotherapy by a Registered Psychotherapist, it's worth checking your plan's mental health benefit.

Individual sessions are $100 and couples or family sessions are $120, each running about 50 minutes. The initial 15-minute consultation is free. A sliding scale is available upon application if cost is a barrier, please just ask.

All sessions are virtual, over secure video. I'm based in Oakville and see clients online across Ontario, including nearby communities like Burlington, Milton, and Mississauga. This makes therapy easier to fit into a busy life: no commute, and you can meet from wherever you feel most comfortable.

It varies. Some clients feel real progress in just a few sessions; others prefer longer-term support. Together we'll set goals early on and check in regularly, so therapy lasts exactly as long as it's useful to you, no more, no less.

I offer therapy in English, Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi, so you can speak about what matters most in the language that feels most natural to you.

The easiest first step is a free 15-minute consultation. You can book one instantly through the Jane portal, or send a message through the contact page and I'll reach out to find a time. There's no pressure to continue; it's simply a chance to see if we're a good fit.
